Thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal surgery.

David Scott-Coombes is consultant in Endocrine Surgery at University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff. All aspects of thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal surgery are undertaken in a multidisciplinary setting including thyroid cancer surgery, laparoscopic adrenal surgery, and focused parathyroid surgery using intra-operative PTH assay. More than 200 endocrine operations are undertaken each year.

Biography

David Scott-Coombes graduated from Westminster Medical School, London. He received his major training in endocrine surgery at Hammersmith Hospital, London. Between 1996 and 2002 he was appointed as Consultant in Endocrine Surgery at King's College Hospital, London and he moved to Cardiff in 2002. He has published papers on many aspects of endocrine surgery and written chapters on endocrine surgery in leading medical textbooks. He is an executive member of the European Society of Endocrine Surgeons and was director of audit for the British Association of Thyroid and Endocrine Surgeons [2004 - 2010]. He is an examiner for the European Board of Surgery Qualification (Endocrine).
